Hi, Zengage Marketing here. We’re a real-life marketing agency now. Well, technically speaking, yes, we’re a company, in the sense that we can show you the paperwork, but we’re not exactly a big company.
Yet.
But that’ll come. No, right now, we’re a small company built to help you navigate all the twists and turns, the pathways and pitfalls of marketing in the 21st century. And we feel particularly well-suited to that task because, frankly, we’ve probably made all the mistakes you’re trying to avoid. Not because we don’t know what we’re doing. We swear we do. It’s more a function of two things, really:
We’ve been around a while. To use the popular buzzwords, “It’s not our first rodeo.” We’ve been journalists, content marketers, product marketers, demand generators (ooo, that sounds exciting), and public relationers? Something like that. Long story short: we’ve done a lotta stuff.
Which leads us to point number two: we’ve tried a lotta things. Wayne Gretzky famously said, “You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take,” so we keep firing. Sometimes the results aren’t so good. Other times, they’re straight-up magical. Don’t get us wrong. We love when the magic happens. But we also don’t mind all that much when it doesn’t turn out exactly how we thought. The truth is we put a lotta faith in failure. Without it, success wouldn’t exist.
We realize it might not be such a great idea to get all giddy about failure when you’re just starting out. But we think you get it. We’ve all been there. Zengage isn’t gonna try to tell you we never make a mistake. We’re not gonna try to convince you every other marketing agency sucks. They don’t. We’ve got some great friends who do outstanding work. But we will tell you this: Zengage will be a different kind of marketing agency. We’re gonna communicate in simple terms, not buzzwords. We’re gonna strive to simplify your life. We’ll make you think, but we’ll also make you laugh, because we’ve been around long enough to realize we all do our best work when it doesn’t feel like a job.
And, yeah, we’re gonna do great work for you. But you’ll be the judge of that. In the meantime, we’re gonna use this blog to begin to share a bit of what we’ve learned along the way. We’ll talk about the entire spectrum of marketing—with a particular emphasis on how content fuels it all. And sometimes we won’t even talk about marketing at all. Because sometimes the best part of the day is a video of a cat getting scared by a cucumber. And you can always count on us for that.
